San Diego Padres Franchise History - A Fan's Essentials

1. San Diego Padres – The Team Name 

This franchise was established in 1969. The team has always been known as the San Diego Padres. 

2. San Diego Padres – The Championship Record 

Five Post Season Appearances: 

1984: Won NL West with 92-70 record Defeated Cubs 3 games to 2 in NLCS Lost to Detroit 4 games to 1 in World Series 

1996: Won NL West with 91-71 record Lost to St. Louis 3 games to 0 in NLDS 

1998: Won NL West with 98-64 record Defeated Houston 3 games to 1 in NLDS Defeated Atlanta 4 games to 2 in NLCS Lost to NY Yankees 4 games to 0 in World Series 

2005: Won NL West with 82-80 record Lost to St. Louis 3 games to 0 in NLDS 2006: Won NL West with 88-74 record Lost to St. Louis 3 games to 1 in NLDS 

Won two NL Pennants: 

1984 - Lost to Detroit 4 games to 1 in World Series 

1998 - Lost to NY Yankees 4 games to 0 in World Series
