Florida Panthers - Franchise, Team, Arena and Uniform History

Florida Panthers uniform evolution poster

Oct 2023: This is a prototype poster and is not yet available for sale. When the Florida Panthers posters are available for sale, they will be available from Heritage Sports Stuff as reasonably priced 8" x 24" plaqued posters that are ready to hang on your wall.

Oct 2023: Almost all of the 10 actual original watercolor paintings used in this poster are available for sale – see Section 5 of this blog.

1. Florida Panthers – The Franchise History
This franchise was established (by established we mean the year of the franchise’s first game) in 1993-94 - they co-joined the NHL at the same time as the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (now known as Anaheim Ducks). The Panthers have always been known as the Florida Panthers.

2. Florida Panthers – Championships/Great Accomplishments
No Stanley Cup Championships

Two Stanley Cup finals appearances:
1995-96 (the franchise's 3rd season!) lost to Colorado Avalanche 4-0
2022-23 lost to Vegas Golden Knights 4-1

Two Eastern Conference Championships:
1995-96, 2022-23

Three Division Championships:
2011-12 SouthEast Division Champions 94 points: 38 wins - 26 losses - 18 OT losses
2015-16 Atlantic Division Champions 103 points: 47 wins - 26 losses - 9 OT losses
2021-22 Atlantic Division Champions 122 points: 58 wins - 18 losses - 6 OT losses

3. Florida Panthers – Home Arena History
The Florida Panthers franchise has played in two home arenas, although their second home rink has  been known by six names in its 25-ish year history:

1. Miami Arena 1993 - 1998
A pen and ink aerial view image of Miami Arena will be added Q1 2024.

2. Amerant Bank Arena
National Car Rental Center 1998–2002
Office Depot Center 2002–2005
Bank Atlantic Center 2005–2012
BB&T Center 2012–2021
FLA Live Arena 2021–2023
Amerant Bank Arena 2023 - Present

A pen and ink aerial view image of Amerant Bank Arena will be added Q1 2024.

4. For more information on the Florida Panthers, you should visit/bookmark these great websites:

B. For a great season-by-season summary of each Florida Panthers season:

C. These guys do a great job of team (and player) stats for all active and defunct franchises

D. For some good info about arenas past, present and future, visit this site (and don’t be fooled by the their name – even though it’s ballparks dot com, they do a good job on hockey arenas too):

E. For great stats on past and present players and prospects, these guys do an amazing job:

5. Celebrate the Florida Panthers' jersey history by owning a famous piece of jersey artwork:
If you love the Florida Panthers and the history of the Florida Panthers franchise, you might really love to own an original piece of artwork celebrating the team's historic jerseys as seen in the poster at the top of this blog - you can actually own one of those original pieces of art! There are only 10 pieces of original art available for sale, and when these 10 are sold, that's it, they're all sold out.

These original watercolor paintings would make a great gift (birthday gift, anniversary gift, retirement gift, Christmas gift, etc.) for someone you love or even a great gift for yourself (one of these framed pieces would look fantastic in your home or office). Each piece can be bought one of three ways:
1. As unframed art that you could have framed or mounted yourself (the one on the left)
2. Framed in our "Classic" framed version (the middle version)
3. Framed in our "Deluxe" framed version (the version on the right)

If you would like more information about this great artwork including the three ways you could purchase each piece, please visit our Florida Panthers YouTube video or go directly to the artwork website where you can see and purchase the artwork.

And if someone you know loves the history of sports uniforms (but maybe another team) and loves great art, please let them know that we have over 1500 pieces of great original artwork for sale at (all NFL teams, all MLB teams, all NHL teams, all CFL teams, select NCAA football teams) or check out each team's video at the Heritage Sports Art YouTube Channel .
